Frequently Asked Questions

Question

I've been playing for a little while now. Will this be too basic for me?

Answer

It depends, but the short answer is "Most likely, yes".

If you're comfortable with how to hold your guitar, and you can read tabs no problem, and you know which strings produce which notes in open position, and you can play a bunch of chords instead of just strumming randomly, then you'd probably get more from visiting the "Resources" link at the bottom of the page and poking around there, to be honest. Or going here...

As much as my bank manager would love for everyone to pick up a copy of the Absolutely Essential Guitar package (LOL!), I know perfectly well that it is really only suited to absolute beginners. If you're not an absolute beginner, it's going to be too basic for you. Sorry.

Question

Say... can't I find everything I need on the internet for free?

Answer

Well, again, "Yes and no". You can actually probably find most of the stuff covered in Absolutely Essential Guitar on the internet for free because this package is aimed at complete beginners. You won't find really advanced stuff (or if you do, then the teaching ability might be dubious), but this ebook is not about advanced stuff—it's about laying the foundations so you don't get ahead of yourself and shoot yourself in the foot.

As I've said elsewhere, it really is a matter of "opportunity cost" and how much your time is worth to you. If you have plenty of time and not much money, I'd actually prefer to see you spend that money on something else more important and use your time to research all the basics online. I know what it's like to be time-rich/money-poor. It doesn't necessarily suck. (There are millions and millions of corporate drones who are, for example, mega-rich but never have any time to enjoy their lives!)

On the other hand, if you can afford it (please don't buy it if you're worried about next month's rent payment or that hot date on Saturday night), Absolutely Essential Guitar is relatively inexpensive, good value, and you can be downloading it in less than 5 minutes from now.

Question

Help! I know nothing about guitar at all. Will this be too advanced for me?

Answer

Not at all! This will be perfect for you. We'll start right at the beginning with a quick discussion of the types of guitars and then we'll go through basic stuff like holding your guitar, tuning your guitar, naming the strings, some basic chords, what to expect as you get better... and so on.

And don't forget the bonuses will show you some hand exercises to make your playing that much easier. Along with the most useful 35 chords you'll find yourself playing over and over again.

And if you sign up for the 5-Part eCourse, we'll go over parts of the guitar, reading tablature, what "chord" actually means, some basic scales and drills, strumming patterns and some other stuff.

So, no, it won't be too advanced. In fact, I'm worried that the first few chapters might be a bit too basic! But I know many people aren't even sure where to start, and that's why I put this package together in the first place! Which means we've got to start right from the beginning.

Question

I'm worried about the download failing and losing my money!

Answer

You have nothing to fear. Everything is tracked and if there is ever any sort of problem (for whatever reason) you can always just click on the "Contact" link at the bottom of every page for help. This will take you to my HelpDesk and me or one of my team will sort it out for you as promptly as we can.

Sometimes things go wrong with technology. Luckily, the overwhelming majority of the time, they don't! Never fear. If some craziness happens, we'll sort it out as fast as possible for you.

Question

What's with the audio version? Can I only listen to it on your site or can I transfer it to my iPod too?

Answer

You will receive the audio version of the main ebook in standard MP3-format, which means you can download it and listen to it on any device that plays MP3s (your iPod—or other MP3 player—your computer, etc.)

Question

What happens if I buy it and it's not what I expected?

Answer

If you're disappointed with your purchase in any way, I really want to know ASAP! The absolute last thing I want is for you to feel that you've been ripped off. That's no way to run a business and I'm not in the business of ripping people off. If you feel that Absolutely Essential Guitar is not for you and that you haven't received more value in terms of learning to play guitar than you paid for the package, please submit a ticket via the HelpDesk (by using the "Contact" link on this site) within 60 days of purchase and I'll issue you a refund. Simple as that.

Question

How can I be sure my credit card details are safe with you?

Answer

Simple: I never see your credit card details. All purchases are processed via the secure credit card payment form at ClickBank or via PayPal, the most trusted payment processor on the entire internet.

Believe me, if they weren't reliable and safe, I wouldn't use them for my own business!

I've also bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff through both PayPal and ClickBank over the years and I have never had any problems. So you're safe.

Question

How do I know you're not just going to take my money and not deliver anything?

Answer

Y'know, that's a fair a question, I reckon. There are so many scam artists on the internet (actually not just on the internet, but there seem to be more on here) that it's right to be cautious. I've actually been stung by a few myself!

But it would, I think, be a little foolish of me to have a verified business account with PayPal and a vendor account with ClickBank and then run off with people's money. They know where I live. They know my business address. They know my bank account details. They know a lot of things about me. If I failed to deliver what people had paid for, I'd be out of business pretty quickly.
